You will be made aware of the nature of the assignment and any specific clothing requirements to take at the time of booking, but be aware of the essential requirements for assignments.
You will be advised of the wardrobe requirements. All clothes must be clean and ironed. There must be no designer or advertising logos of any kind. Teens will be advised of clothes, make-up etc.
Notice for castings are generally a short period of time, usually 24hrs but can be as little as 12 hours notice. You need to be prepared to leave at the drop of a hat!
Always take a huge selection of clothes and not just one or two things as these may clash with the background on set.
Rehearse any lines given well in advance and take with you on the day.
Hair must be clean and neatly cut (especially on fringes). Hair accessories can be taken for girls. NO GEL must be used on girls but may be taken for boys. If your child has long hair don’t tie it up!
Always arrive 15 minutes before the appointment time. NEVER BE LATE!
Always refer to a map, internet route finder or Sat Nav to find the address you are going to, as understandably, we do not have time to give street by street directions over the telephone. Give yourself an extra hour to get there. ALWAYS PLAN YOUR ROUTE BEFORE YOU GO.
NEVER contact the studio directly unless advised.
MAKE sure your child goes to the toilet immediately before the casting.
MAKE sure your child knows the name of our agency “Casting Kids”.
Remember to smile nicely with teeth showing naturally. Always be polite and chatty, and wait quietly for your turn. Hands, faces and nails must be clean. No nail varnish should be worn unless requested.
If you are asked to wear make-up, apply light make up only and take it with you. If you have pierced ears do not wear loops. Studs may be worn but no more than one pair, and none for boys.
ALWAYS take a book, colouring book, small games console, ipad etc in case there is a delay between auditions. No felt-tip pens though!
ALWAYS take a selection of refreshments along with you. Take water or light coloured juice and snacks that are easy for children to eat without getting on their clothes.
If your child is unable to attend a job due to sickness etc, we MUST be informed at the earliest opportunity. Do not leave it to the last minute thinking you/he/she may feel better!!!
Never miss a booking without contacting the agency.
Never take other people’s children/siblings to a casting without permission.
It’s important your child is natural on the day they want to see their character, not necessarily a stage school child.
Remember Casting Directors are real people like you and I – and they understand children. They cast for TV, film commercials and photography everyday and see all sorts happen. Keep calm and don’t worry, your child will do their best.
